How did living room furniture look in 1936?
How where living rooms arranged? Did they contain a television? What kind of patterns were used to decorate the tablecloths, the couches, the lamp shades, or even the rugs that were in the middle of the floor.

- I can tell you for sure there were no televisions in homes in 1936. But it was likely that there was a radio in the living room. You can see some at: http://www.radioblvd.com/photos.html You can see some pictures of Art Deco interiors (popular in the 1930s) here: http://www.decopix.com/New%20Site/Pages/Directory%20Pages/Color_Schemes_dir.html (Click on the Color Scheme links at the bottom of the page.)
- patterns would have to do with how up to date the house was--just like now, people have hold-overs from previous generations. a big console radio would probably be the centerpiece, if the family had a little money. otherwise, it would be the fireplace. probably, there would be some art deco stuff. also, crocheted doilies on the backs of wingback chairs from earlier eras. my grandma had lots of those oval braided rugs. i found this site: http://www.niagaraniagara.com/bampfield-breakfast.html by google-image search "1930s decor" --you'll get more ideas by going there. http://images.google.com/images?q=1930s+decor&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&start=0&sa=N
