1. You might want to try a place like Big Lots. They have furniture and I'm positive I have seen futons there - under $50, I'm pretty sure.
2. Try Craigslist.com or join a freecycle group in your area (look for groups on your Yahoo homepage). You'd be amazed what people are willing to give away. You can also check out Goodwill and Salvation Army. Buy a replacement futon mattress from Ikea.
3. Check out AffordableFutons.com. They have everything from convertible sofas to futons to futon chairs.
4. Here are some 4 star futons. I have the one that has no arms and a storage area under seat. Good luck!
5. put compare futon couch prices in your search engine. that will give you different stores and will show you their prices.
