How can I get rid of home furniture fast?
I am in the process of moving in a few weeks and I am trying to get rid of furniture that I have in the current house by selling it and using the proceeds to buy new furniture for the new home. But I don't want to use Ebay or Craigslist because it can take a long process trying to get people to bid, etc., but what other alternatives could I use to sell the furniture? Thnaks.

- Ebay is the best bet despite what you say about it
- Since you are trying to sell. instead of donate, you can try a used furniture store / thrift store in your area....don't expect to get very much though
- If it's decent stuff that's worth some money, try selling it through a consignment store; I did this when I moved. It works this way - the store takes your stuff and puts it on display in their store. When someone buys something, they give you a percentage of what it sold for. Even though they take a percentage, you can make more money this way because more people will see it and the place knows what a fair price is. The only downside is some of your stuff may never sell, but at least it's not in your house anymore!
- Advertise locally for a moving sale and give specific dates.
- Putting your furniture in a second hand store can take weeks to sell. Sounds like you are in a hurry to turn your furniture into cash to buy new furniture. I would make a sign and post it the roads close to and leading to your home so people can come and buy it directly from you. Tag sale on weekends and just put up signs when you are planning on being home and available during the week to let people in to buy your furniture. You could post your sale items on local bulletin boards, super markets at the community center, churches, and what have you. A classified advertisement in the newspaper will never hurt, eigther. Good Luck
- There may be a classified add web site by your local news paper. We have one where I live, and its free. When I'm looking for furniture, I look there first. I have a friend that advertised in the classifieds, and had an open house. I mean an open house! She had people come through her house and buy things off her wall's,shelves, and furniture right where it was at She didn't have to do a thing, but collect the money.
- Actually I sold an entire dining room set rug and all over 1000.00 on Craigs List in just a couple hours. Good photos and good descriptions are key. Also try Backpage.com. Moving sale advertised on both CL and BP would be a good bet as well.
