Is leather furniture sticky to sit on in the summer and cold in the winter?

I am looking at replacing my living room furniture this year and I need some suggestions? First, we have 2 cats (and yes they sometimes scratch the ends of the sofa and loveseat that we have now-in fact it looks horrible) 2. The upholstery fabic we have now has piles all over it? I don't want to go down that road again when we choose new living room furniture. The room it will go in will be sat on constantly (no formal living room in my house) and occasionally napped on. I need suggestions. I not not going to spend a fortune on the new furniture, but I would be willing to spend some extra for it to last for at least 5-7 years (if not longer). Any feedback would be appreciated.

1. Yes leather is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I have leather in the vehicle i drive and put some cloth seat covers on them. If you have cats they will ruin that leather. I have a cat long haired and she sheds on my furniture. I keep a blanket or sheet where she likes to sleep .. Its hard when you have cats. But i had rather have cloth at least you can use one of those sticky roller brushes and get most of it up. I have had the same sectional sleeper sofa for 10 yrs now.and it still looks good.
2. We got leather and its fine Summer or Winter, Now Cats are different story, You need to have them declared so they will not ruin the leather scratching on it.
3. I really dont like leather furniture. they're just not owner-friendly. my girlfriend had a leather couch and we had sex on it several times and you sweat and slide and get sticky. no.. I dont care for leather furniture much
4. There are several different kinds of leather. Some is very slick and shiny and (in my opinion) not comfortable. However, when we bought a leather couch we opted for the the older, worn leather look. It is beautiful and extremely comfortable. Very nice in either summer or winter. However, your cats will ruin it very quickly.
5. No matter what kind of furniture you buy, you'll need to address your cat problem. If you don't want to have them declawed, try a scrathing post, or a spray bottle to spray them when they scratch the furniture. I love my leather furniture. It stays new looking much longer than upholstered. For napping, I recommend putting a sheet or blanket down.
6. Yes and it is also EVIL to use an animal's skin as upholstery. *shudder*
7. I love our leather funiture and car upholstery. It is not any more cool in the winter or hot in the summer than any other fabric. It is a natural material, not man-made. I nap on the love seat and in the recliner occasionally, and they are very comfortable, and both of our cats think so too.
