I have black living room furniture,I need to find out what color walls to do. I am thinking of an accent wall?
I am thinking of a brighter kiwi green wall as an accent. But the rest of the living room walls are all connected so I have to paint the upstairs hallway, living room and the front entrance way all the same color. White seems to be the only thing that matches...any other ideas, really not a white wall person?? The carpet is a light beige tan.

- You can try something red paint if you don't want cream and white.
- beige is good to match with your carpet
- You could always do 1 wall kiwi green and the rest white and then just have green Accessories that would look really nice. In my house we have 1 colored wall in each room, most of the walls are cream and then in the front room we have 1 chocolate brown wall, in the living room we have 1 wallpapered wall which is red and in the bedroom we have wallpaper on one wall which is duck egg blue and brown we just pick out the colours in the wallpaper with accessories. Kiwi green, white and black would look great! x
- You do not need to paint kiwi green to all of the walls though it's connected. Choose only 1 or 2 walls as a backdrop to your black furniture and as an accent wall, only 1 wall should be good enough. Let the corner of the wall serves to define where shades of kiwi green and shade of white meet. Do not paint the stairs well in kiwi green, please. The rest of the wall can be painted in the shade of cold-grey-white. When it's done, make it looks more interesting by adding black-and-white loose cushions or some wall pictures to it.
- I would paint in neutrals with black furniture, because they are already a strong point to make. Then, I would add bright pops of color around the room, like bright pink flowers on the mantle to match bright pink pillows on the couch and bright pink wall art. Or whatever exciting color you like.
- Kiwi green is an excellent accent colour. Because your carpet is a light beige tan, you will have to consider both that and your exact shade of green when choosing your main colour. I would start by looking in the warm sandy beiges with a bit of a yellow undertone to them. The warmth in the main colour will keep the green looking warmer even on the dullest day or in the evenings while not being as harsh a contrast with your black furniture as white would be. To finish off the look, I would suggest you try to find some throw pillows for your sofa that have a creamy colour and the kiwi green in the pattern - maybe a slightly retro bold geometric like http://www.designerfabrics.ca/shop/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=17576 or http://www.designerfabrics.ca/shop/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=15733 and hang black and white art on the accent wall (framed in simple black frames). Good luck!
- For the connecting walls, I would go with a color that you wouldn't mind keeping for a while that will go with all the rooms. A color close to the color of your carpet would be nice. Why are you selecting a kiwi green? It sounds nice, but you will need to relate it to something...maybe a rug, pillows, or artwork. - play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think "magnetic gray" (# 7058) might be a good choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
